Breakfast at the hotel, meet the guide. Visit the ancient Civita district and the cathedral, stroll through the Castelvecchio area and stop off at Palazzo Bernardini Ferraù and Palazzo Venusio / Viceconte where you will be welcomed by the owners or managers of these magnificent buildings who will tell you the history. Visit to Casa Noah, a cultural site of great historical interest and which is managed by FAI (The National Trust for Italy). Here the history of the city is retold in a 16th Century dwelling carved out of the rock.
Outside the city walls, more of the peasant lifestyle will be discovered in the Barisano district, stopping at private residences and listening to their direct experience of living there every day (visit Casa Grotta by Rizzi Eustachi in via Fiorentini and “Matera in Miniature”).
Lunch on typical produce and visit the Rupestrian complex of Madonna delle Virtù and San Nicola dei Greci, a splendid example of a church in the Latin style (Madonna delle Virtù) and Byzantine (San Nicola dei Greci) as well as the Rupestrian church San Pietro Barisano which, with its mysterious catacombs, represents the most important and the largest Rupestrian church in the city of Matera, located in Sasso Barisano.

Pick-up and transfer to Castel del Monte, a place of great mystery where the famous castle was built in the 13th Century by Emperor Frederick II of Svevia. Followed by a visit to the city of Trani with its beautiful old town and the renowned Romanesque cathedral on the sea, the Jewish ghetto and much more.

In the afternoon, transfer and visit to Bari, capital of the Apulian region and hub for commerce and the cultural gateway from our peninsula to the East. Visit the Basilica of San Nicola and the characteristic alleyways in the old town.
In the evening, return to Matera, dinner in a restaurant and overnight stay.
